Shipping and Handling Charges

Shipping and handling will now be shown as a one line item on monthly invoices.

Shipping costs are passed from the vendor to the customer, but also include a US$5 handling fee per order in the United States. [International orders are still billed a flat fee of USD$15 for shipping and handling.] (See US shipping rates below.) For this reason, please plan ahead and place larger orders at less frequent intervals. This will help to minimize Reading Rooms' handling costs. Also, the most expensive pound shipped is the first pound to be shipped. Larger orders will benefit from lower per-pound shipping rates. In addition, fewer, larger orders allow for more efficient use of the time and efforts of CSPS Customer Contact Reps and shipping personnel.


United States Reading Room
  • Handling charge: There is a US$5.00 handling charge on every order including special orders of periodicals. This charge will be included with your shipping cost on your invoice. Regular standing orders for periodicals do not incur a handling charge.
  • Shipping charge: Shipping charges are changing and are no longer based on 10-pound increments. See shipping rates below.
  • Backorders: The total shipping charges will be based on the weight of the entire order. The shipping charge for the backordered portion will be charged when the back order ships. No additional handling charge is incurred when the backordered items are shipped.


Reading Rooms outside the US
  • Shipping and Handling charge: A flat US$15.00 shipping and handling charge will be placed on every order until further notice.
  • Periodicals: There are no shipping or handling charges on continuity (standing) periodical orders. Shipping and handling is charged on shipments of extra copies of periodicals.
  • Backorders: If there is a backordered product on an order the $15 shipping and handling charge will be split proportionally among the items according to weight. The remaining proportional amount will be charged when the backordered item(s) ships.

Undeliverable orders:

Please note: It is the responsibility of the customer  to provide a correct deliverable address for all orders.  
If any shipping vendor is unable to deliver a package to a Reading Room after multiple attempts (for example, because of limited Reading Room hours), the package will be returned to The Christian Science Publishing Society's (CSPS) warehouse. Returned packages result in restocking charges to the CSPS as well as additional freight charges from the carrier. To help to cover the costs which CSPS incurs, Reading Rooms will not be reimbursed for the shipping and handling of undeliverable, returned packages.  


Shipping Methods: 

US orders: The Christian Science Publishing Society's default shipping method within the United States is UPS. Please be sure you specify a delivery address that can accept packages delivered by UPS.  PO Boxes cannot accept delivery of UPS packages and an alternate address would be necessary. 
International orders: The Christian Science Publishing Society's default shipping method for international orders weighing less than 3.9lbs is USPS. International orders weighing more than 3.9lbs will ship DHL. 


Pricing

Prices on the Product List are subject to change without notice. Web store prices supersede the Product List, advertisements and catalogs. Backorders are billed at the price in effect at the time of shipping.


Continuity Orders (Standing Orders) for Periodicals

Standing orders can not be viewed or changed online at this time. For questions or to make any changes to your standing orders, please contact customer service.

All changes to standing orders vary depending on the production time and frequency of publication for each periodical.

Sentinel – about 5-6 weeks
Monitor – about 3-4 weeks
Journal – about 5-6 weeks
Bible Lessons (print and audio) – about 2-3 months
Citation – about 4-5 months
Heralds – about 2-3 months

Ordering Bibles (in languages other than English)

Reading Rooms may order Bibles in languages other than English from their local Bible Societies. This applies to Bibles authorized by The Christian Science Publishing Society and referenced in the translated editions of the Quarterly.

Duties and taxes

For orders from Canada, GST is collected for all of Canada and HST for Newfoundland, Labrador, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

When applicable, on-screen order totals reflect estimated sales tax. The actual charge to your credit card will reflect all applicable state and local taxes calculated at the time your order is shipped.

Monthly Billing Statements

Reading Rooms receive a monthly billing statement that will list all activity for the month, including product and continuity orders, payments, and credits. The account number on the statement is the billing account number and should be the only account number used to place orders or submit payments. (When submitting a check for payment, please include you account number on the check.) 

Monthly billing statements are pulled the first Monday following the 20th of each month and are mailed the following week. Statements are usually received the first week of the following month for the US and the second week of the following month internationally. This time frame could vary depending on Postal conditions at the time the statements are mailed. If you don’t receive your statement by the 15th of the following month, please do let us know. Credit policy

The Mother Church extends credit privileges to Christian Science Reading Rooms worldwide to order products without prepayment. Reading Rooms receive a monthly billing invoice (statement) detailing their purchases. Payment instructions are on the statement. No interest fees are charged on these accounts. However, credit purchase privileges will be suspended for accounts that become 120 days past due. Orders can always be prepaid using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express.

Returns

Satisfaction guaranteed! Full refund or credit will be given on all products returned within 90 days. Periodicals cannot be returned. Returns must be packaged to prevent damage, must be in saleable condition, and shipped at the Reading Room's expense. Enclose in the return package a copy of the invoice and the reason for the return. For defective products, email Customer Service at csrrcustserv@cdsfulfillment.com.

How will I get refunded for the items I return?

When the processing center receives your returned items, the original payment method you used to place the order will be credited. Please allow one to two billing cycles for the refund credit to appear on your statement.

Can I ship to multiple addresses?

Use the multiple ship-to capability to send gifts to different addresses. You can use this whether you're sending the same gift to everybody or different gifts to each address.


What methods of payment can I use?

You may select "Bill Me" under Payment Types on the check out page. This charge will then be reflected in your monthly invoice. Monthly invoices can be paid by check or credit card.

PayPal is NOT accepted at this time.

If the site's shopping cart is unable to complete the sale with the credit card you're using, please check that the card number and expiration date on the form are correct, and that the billing name and address provided match your credit card statement exactly. Please contact your credit card company if the problem persists.

When will I be charged for my order?

You are charged when your order is shipped, usually within one or two days of placing your order. If your order includes backordered items, the backordered portion will not be charged to your account until shipped.

What type of order confirmation will I get?

You will receive an order confirmation by email. If you have not received a confirmation email, please send an email to csrrcustserv@cdsfulfillment.com.

Can I make changes to my order after it has been submitted?

No changes can be made to orders once they have been submitted.

How do I update My Account Information?

To update billing address or e-mail address, click on My Account in the top right corner of the shop. Then, choose the appropriate selection in the Top Navigation bar.

Be sure to click on submit after changing the appropriate address information so that the changes are saved.

Any changes made to your billing address in your account will apply to all product and periodical orders for your Reading Room.

For customers outside of US and Canada, please contact customer service to change your billing address.

Can I see my Order History Online?

Order history can be viewed by clicking on My Account in the top right corner of the shop and then clicking on View History in the Top Navigation bar. Your most recent order will display first.
